Hotels in Corbett.
India’s first National Park, The Corbett National Park is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful parks in northern and central India. It was established in the August of 1936 and named Hailey National Park after the Governor of the United Provinces, Sir Malcolm Hailey. However, in 1952, the name was changed to Ramganga National Park and yet again in 1957; the Park was renamed, this time after Jim Corbett, the well-known hunter-author-photographer-naturalist.
To add to its history. Project Tiger was launched on April 1, 1973 from this very place. The park is situated in the Himalayan foothills amidst deeply Forest Mountains that range from 1,312ft to 3,970ft in height. The Ramganga river winds its way through it even today and it is believed that in ancient time, a civilization had flourished along its banks. Certainly terracotta figurines and ruined temple do seem to speak volumes in favor of this particular face.
